The Real Argument Between the Left and Right
The left and the right are arguing about more than just policy and social issues. Their disagreements are much deeper.
It is said “There is nothing new under the sun” and the phrase applies here too. The debate between the left and the right is nothing new. It is just a different form of the never-settled age-old question. The question of God's existence.
The “Right” has the perspective that God exists and that is the fundamental truth. God to them is the ultimate source of perfection and beauty, and therefore they want to pursue truth to become more perfect and beautiful. To become more God-like.
They are for freedom of speech, because they want the true ideas to become discovered and rise to the top.
They are in favor of sports and competition because they want the best to rise, and the bad to fail.
They want to separate the chaff from the wheat, to progress towards perfection.
Therefore they are for progress.
They are for capitalism because it is a system that promotes progress.
The blindspot of the right is that they can progress too fast.
Change is painful. It is a painful process to throw out your old ideas for the sake of newer and better ones. But it is necessary, because that is how you grow.
It is painful to lose a competition. But it is necessary, because you need the negative feedback.
Pain is necessary for growth, but too much can be overbearing. Therefore the progress of the right should be regulated, to move at a manageable pace.
The old left used to have the same perspective as the right in regards to God, they just believed in going at a slower pace. They acted as the brakes to the car, while the right acted as the gas.
The old left was concerned with looking out for the “little guy” because they were the most in pain. They therefore advocated for social welfare, unions, and communities to help ease the pain for the system's “losers”. But even still, they still were pro-capitalism, freedom of speech, and truth; because they still held the same value as the right about the importance of progress.
The left and the right remained good friends, until there were issues.
The left perceived the right as becoming corrupt.
The left felt that the “elites'' at the top were greedy. And they were more interested in hoarding than the progress they espoused.
The left felt that there was too much money in politics, allowing the biased corporations to buy their influence.
They believed that America’s foreign intervention wasn't about idealism, but was simply motivated by greed and power.
They lost their trust in the elites to steer the car on the correct path, and therefore rebelled. They slammed their foot on the breaks.
A new left was born. But this new left wasn't on the same team as the right anymore. It had its own new philosophy. It decided to captain its own ship.
The new left calls themselves "progressives", but the irony is that they are anything but.
The progressives have given up on the idea of God. And without God, they are left with nihilism.
They therefore do not believe in pursuing truth, for there is nothing beautiful at the end of that rope.
They therefore do not believe in the concept of growth at all, for without God, there is nothing to grow with respect to.
They therefore are opposed to any attempt of growth, because growth is painful. And they want to avoid pain.
Instead of progress, they are solely concerned about Human well-being. They want everyone to feel good.
From this perspective emerges all of the new leftist policies.
They affirm gay marriage - because why go through the pain of fighting this urge? It is more pleasurable to step into it
They are for transgender. Because why not just do what makes them happy? Who cares if it isn't true. Truth isn’t a value.
They are against competition, because why have any losers at all? Losers are in pain. And pain is bad.
Instead of capitalism, they want communism, because a system of progress isn't worth it if it involves pain.
The new left is a philosophy of stagnation. It wants a stagnant society to prevent growth pains.
This is the real issue that is dividing the country right now. It is the issue of God.
Believing in God logically leads to the perspective of the right and their policies.
While being atheist logically leads to the perspective of the left and their policies.
The disconnect is on a theistic level. And to heal this, that is where the conversation needs to be had.
