Theistic Evolution
It is said that “God made man in his image,” and that might be true on a soul level.
But man makes himself into the image of God.
The evolutionary process could be understood as a species' yearnings for their desires about who they want to become.
Evolution works by “Survival of the Fittest.” On a basic level this is a test for being healthy — that individuals are healthy enough to survive what the natural world throws at them. However nature isn’t the only influence that shapes what it means to be “fit.” Sexual selection is the bigger influence.
Sexual selection many times selects for being healthy, but it can select for more, and does.
In the dating pool, physicality is selected for, but there are other more ethereal qualities that are selected for as well: Such as kindness, thoughtfulness, depth, integrity, drive, honesty, outlook, etc. And these qualities can be selected over physical qualities.
These ethereal qualities are desired because they are God-like (It is the same qualities we ascribe to God).
If a society values these God-like qualities, then men and women will shape themselves to become that. And the human species will evolve to become more God-like.
The human evolution story could looks like this:
Once upon a time there was amoeba.
It didn’t have much capacity to think or do, but it did have one thing. Desire.
It desired to be more like God.
So it grew arms and hands to be strong like God.
It grew legs to be balanced like God.
It grew a heart to love like God.
It grew a brain to think like God.
And slowly but surely it evolved to become a human.
This view is preferable to the materialistic evolutionary viewpoint because it can explain phenomena much better.
How did a peacock get those feathers?
Why do birds of paradise develop a mating dance?
Materialistic evolution doesn’t have good answers for these. These evolution’s are a waste of resources, females should not be selecting for this. But theistic evolution does have an explanation.
Because the peacocks thinks those feathers are beautiful.
Because the bird of paradise likes the romance in the dance.
These creatures have souls that yearn for God too. And for them, this is how they understand God, and how they choose to become God-like.
Our souls are our compass, are we are letting it guide us back to it's source.
